Puerto Montt, Puerto Montt, & Lago Todos Los Santos

On Friday morning we anchored in Puerto Montt harbor, and were welcomed at the port by dozens of touts eager to arrange tour services.

We steered clear and hopped on a jaunty micro-bus for the 20 minute ride to Puerto Varas on a beautiful lake.

The church on the hill is a key landmark in Puerto Varas. My wife and I were reminded of our trip here last year.
Within an hour, we were walking along the edge of Lago Todos los Santos (All Saint's Lake) near the Argentine border. In an answer to prayer, the pouring rain stopped when we stepped off the bus, and didn't start again until we left.

Back in Puerto Varas, school kids hang out after class.

We turned our sights back to Puerto Montt, to make sure we didn't miss the boat.

How many dogs can you count in this alley?

Our ship waiting in the bay. An active volcano is hidden by clouds in the distance.

The four of us savored an enjoyable Friday evening dinner as our ship slipped past the island of Chiloe and headed out to sea.
