Mendoza, Argentina

Please excuse the hiatus on FSO Globetrotter. We have had 3 months of visitors, capped by probably one of the biggest visits of our lives, so my updates have taken a back-seat to more pressing concerns.

We had a fantastic visit with my brother, and had a lot of fun. First, we drove across the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina for a few days.

Crossing under the Andes, a long tunnel.

On the other side, we took a short hike in a national park with a view of Mt. Aconcagua, the highest mountain outside of the Himalayas.

A donkey caravan goes by.

A bird on the post.

Mendoza didn't disappoint. We walked through a very nice vineyard, where the friendly family showed us all around their place.

They also have a huge rabbit farm, where the young things are slaughtered and frozen for the meat market.

We stopped at an interesting olive oil factory, and learned how they really make that extra virgin olive oil.

Lunch at a street side cafe.

Argentina has something Chile doesn't: Wal-Mart. We stopped in and enjoyed window shopping. However, we didn't buy anything because Chilean customs officials are extremely zealous, and will confiscate the goods and fine anyone who brings back products from Argentina.

We stopped at the food court, and enjoyed these snacks while waiting for our gnocci to arrive. Argentina has lots of Italian food.

On another day, we enjoyed a lazy afternoon in the enormous municipal park.

Back home in Chile, the full moon rises.
We are thankful for the view from our window.

Beautiful shots. Also, didn't Walmart just buy Lider?
