The Bureau of Consular Affairs in the State Department has a very robust professional development program for Consular professionals. One part of this program is the annual Consular Leadership Day where Consular staff can step back from the daily grind of Visa and American Citizen Services work and refocus on our mission and our crucial role in U.S. foreign policy.
This year we had several guest speakers from different parts of the Government of Chile give important and useful presentations related to our Consular work.
Our leaders graciously bought pizzas, soda & ice cream for everybody, and we had a relaxing lunch in the Embassy rose garden.
Out on the street, the fork-lift patrol was out and about.
For brunch last Sunday Mrs. Globetrotter prepared some delicious wraps. Or were they breakfast burritos? Whatever. They were good by any name, and knowing food names is not my forte. All I know is that my wife is a wonderful cook and I'm eating very well since I got married. Wow, its been nearly two years. But I digress....
At church there were several baptisms, and afterwards we had a good time chatting with several of our Chilean friends there. Going to a Spanish language church is helping to improve our conversational Spanish.
