The Final 36 Hours in Lahore

Sunday, 12:30 - I had lunch with a colleague from the consulate to discuss his temporary responsibilities until a new officer can volunteer to fill my soon-to-be-vacant position.
13:45 - On the road home, this rickshaw got stuck in the water from the torrents of rain in Lahore this week.
14:45 - Workers hang up a new billboard on Mall Road.
The rest of the day is spent packing suitcases and saying goodbyes.19:25 - Dropped off my car at Israel & Luz's home. They purchased it in December. It was a good car this year, and served me well. Its hard to part with a good car.
Monday, 13:30 - Appetizers before lunch at a fantastic Pakistani restaurant with the 12 section chiefs that worked for me this past year.

14:15 - Peshawar GSO Nina Diaz was passing through Lahore with some of her FSNs, and came to say good bye.20:30 - The building has been empty for hours. Finally I get everything done that I wanted to, leave final instructions, shred documents, and sign the last official document before I leave the consulate for the last time. How fitting, to be signing an employee's casual leave request.

21:00 - Last view of this place before I rush home to shower and get my suitcases.
21:15 - Farooq and his wife bring their baby girl and say good bye.
21:45 - Some more FSNs are at the airport to say good-bye as they try to control their feelings. Its hard to say good-bye to all these good people.
23:45 - HS-TAG gets prepared for take-off, and is my wings out of Pakistan.
00:45 - Dinner, and hopefully some sleep before Bangkok. The check-in agent was nice and cleared my row, so there was room to stretch out.
How fast, yet how slow this last year has gone. I'm relieved the pressure and stress of the job is over, but its sad to leave the people. It feels like a dream that my tour is completed, and it is finished....
